Gregor Zöllig
Gregor Zöllig has been the Artistic Director of Choreography since 2020, after having been closely associated with the competition as a jury member for many years. He himself was a prize winner in 1996.
Born in Switzerland, Gregor Zöllig began his dance training at the Folkwang University of the Arts in Essen and studied at the Stuttgart State Ballet Academy of the John Cranko School. From 1989 to 1995, he worked as a dancer and soloist in Aachen and Münster. In 1995, he founded and directed his own company. From 1997 to 2005, he co-directed the Osnabrück Dance Theatre with Christine Biedermann. From 2005 to 2015, he was the director of the Bielefeld Dance Theatre. Guest choreographies have taken him to the Nuremberg Dance Workshop, the Schwerin State Theatre, the Vorpommern Ballet, the Nuremberg Ballet, and the Oldenburg State Theatre. He also founded highly regarded outreach projects such as "Zeitsprung" (Time Jump) and "tanzwärts" (dancewards). Gregor Zöllig is a member of various juries, including the board of trustees of the Arts Foundation of North Rhine-Westphalia. Since the 2015/16 season, he has been the artistic director and chief choreographer of the dance theatre at the Braunschweig State Theatre.
