Gregor Zöllig, chief choreographer of the dance theater at the Staatstheater Braunschweig, has been the artistic director of the choreography since 2020. Born in Switzerland, he has long been closely associated with the competition as a jury member and was a prize winner himself in 1996.

Born in St. Gallen and raised in Switzerland, Gregor Zöllig started studying dance at the Folkwang Music Academy in Essen at the age of seventeen. He then continued his studies at the Ballet Academy of the John Cranko School in Stuttgart.
From 1989 to 1995, Gregor Zöllig worked as a dancer and solo dancer at the theaters in Aachen and Münster. During this time he created several choreographic works for these theaters. In 1996, he became assistant and guest trainer at the Bremer Tanztheater under the artistic direction of Urs Dietrich. In 1995, he founded and ran his own company until 1997, at which point he switched to the dance theater of the Städtische Bühnen Osnabrück as director and choreographer. In cooperation with Christine Biedermann, he directed the Osnabrück dance theater for eight years. His main focus is on developing his own dance pieces.
Through its cooperation with international guest choreographers and the guest performances of international dance companies, the Osnabrück dance theater was representative of the exchange of innovative dance styles.
